Classes for Beginners

There are a variety of options available to East Tenneseans new to mindfulness who would like to explore it for themselves.

We have a range of workshops, depending on time and interest! We offer a one and a half hour workshop approximately every other month that is an introduction to mindfulness we have cleverly titled – An Introduction to Mindfulness. Quarterly, we offer a 4 week workshop called Mindfulness for Beginners, which gives new practitioners good exposure to various aspects of mindfulness (body, thoughts, emotions, etc…). We also offer Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, the 8 week course created at the University of Massachusetts more than 40 years ago that set off the mindfulness revolution in the United States. This class has been proven to help individuals establish healthy habits to reduce their stress and anxiety. Check our calendar for details.

If you would prefer your mindfulness with a spiritual bent, we have several different groups who meet at our space that welcome new people at any time. There are 3 different Buddhists groups (Insight, Monday Meditation and Tara Mandala), and a Christian Centering Prayer Group. If you prefer NO spiritual aspects, there is a Sunday Humanist Mindfulness group. More information is available here.
