We develop holding patterns in our bodies from stress, trauma, injuries, illnesses, working and just daily living. These unconscious holding patterns can cause us pain and discomfort.  When muscles forget how to fire, it is called “Sensory Motor Amnesia” of SMA.
This five week Mind-Body Movement series is designed to address SMA, to reawaken neural paths between the brain and the muscles on a subconscious level.  These gentle, mindful movements in this series, based on Thomas Hanna’s Somatics, will help retrain muscles to relax, release and remember how to function. From this series you will learn where you are holding stress and trauma in your body and how to release it.  You will gain more flexibility, strength, balance and a feeling of overall well-being.  

This workshop is open to all – No experience needed.  Wear comfortable clothing suitable for movement.

About the Instructor: Anthony Crutcher studied yoga for a number of years before becoming a student at ClearSpring Yoga in 1999. He has been a yoga instructor since 2000 and has practiced yoga for more than 20 years.   His creative approach to teaching is influenced by his exposure to various instructors, including Tias Little, Doug Keller, Dr.Ranjani Cobo, Rodney Yee and Dr. Roger Cole and his own personal practice.
Anthony received his 200 hour yoga teacher certification studying with Tias and Surya Little in their Prajna Teacher Training Program in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He has E-RYT 200 certification from Yoga Alliance.  His adaptive, supportive style works well for all levels and all body types.  Anthony is also a certified Level One Somatic Exercise Coach, through Martha Peterson’s Essential Somatics Program.
